Life Network

I painted this mural titled “Life Network” in Tryon, NC. It was commissioned by my friend Ian Griggs, who encouraged me to make as much of an art-oriented mural as possible. After a summer of collaging, painting, and drawing a large collection of images towards this concept, it became clear that it would be divided into two parts. The bottom half would be a landscape similar to abstract circuitry, and the top facade would be a salon-style gallery of varied snowflake shapes drifting downwards.

“Life Network”, as the name might imply, is inspired by seeking circulation and balance as we move through a world of unpredictable variables. I thought a lot about the forms that inspiration takes, whether it's through abundance or severe limitations in life. The mechanical-feeling landscape is brought on by repeating patterns and intersecting forms, although I hope there is always room to find something new and special each time you pass by.
